Daughters of Divine Providence

About Us

Founded by Mother Elena Bettini on September 8, 1832, in Rome, the Daughters of Divine Providence is an international canonical community of women religious who are called by God to a life of poverty, obedience, and chastity for the sake of the Kingdom. They strive to follow Christ in his Church in prayer and in service with a "boundless trust in Divine Providence."
This trust in Divine Providence enables each sister to declare, "God keeps my life in his hands... He continuously creates my being; He molds my heart and my existence; it is to believe that God's love wins all circumstances of my life and I can read this love in every occasion of my life; I know He is always ready and waiting for me, He is my Provident Father."
- Mother Elena Bettini
Today the Daughters of Divine Providence minister in Italy, the United Staes, Mexico, Chile, India, and Poland. As a Marian congregation, the sisters foster a great devotion to Mary under her title "Our Lady of Divine Providence" and recognize Saint Joseph as the special patron and protector. Finding their strength and consolation in the Eucharist, the Daughters of Divine Providence engange in ministries to the least, the abandoned, and the poor.
